About Us

Angela HarmonFlowers and gardening have always been a passion for me. My agrarian roots have taken hold here in the Sierra foothills, although many other career lives in traditional corporate America took precedence. I've been a customer service manager, a law librarian, a corporate trainer and a human resources manager. All great experiences to develop those exceptional quality service skills that I deliver to each and every customer. I strive for excellence in every flower arrangement, every bridal bouquet and every encounter with my customers. My focus and attention is on delivering the best and most beautiful flowers for every occasion.

The Garden

My initial start in flower arranging was competitive creative floral design. Learning the principles and elements of creative floral design was a great foundation for developing traditional floral arranging skills. I earned several blue ribbons for my creative arrangements at the Daffodil Flower Show held annually at Ironstone Winery. While working at the Country Flower Hutch in Murphys, I sharpened my wedding floral skills. And, in 2007, I opened my own full service flower shop in Murphys. So, now I've gone full circle and return to my beautiful garden workshop to continue to create beautiful flowers for weddings, special occasions, individual flower arrangements and dried flower wreaths.

Often I'm asked, "Where do you get your flowers"? I always use flowers from professional flower vendors and growers. They come from wholesale flower vendors in Half Moon Bay, Watsonville and Sacramento. For some tropical flowers, I'll receive these from wholesale vendors in Hawaii. They're delivered fresh via overnight delivery. When they're received, they're conditioned before going into the flower cooler. Flower conditioning is re-cutting the stems at an angle, stripping thorns or foliage on the stems that will be underwater, and placing them in a vase of cold water with a floral conditioner. Dried Lavender in Toile PotThe floral conditioner really isn't food for the flowers but it extends the life of the flowers because it helps eliminate bacteria, which decreases the life of the flower. When I arrange flowers, I always re-cut the stems and use fresh cold water, with a package of flower conditioner.

Although you'll often find me with a flower stem in hand or digging in the garden, I've also been an active volunteer in the community. My roles have been president of the Calaveras County Women's Network, president of the Douglas Flat Community Center and chairwoman of several projects for the Calaveras County Garden Club. I'm currently working on a landscape project for the 1854 Pioneer School House in Douglas Flat, just a stroll down the street from my gardens.
