Standard Flower Show in Murphys
The Calaveras County Garden Club, Inc. will be sponsoring a Standard Flower Show in Murphys on March 13-14. CCGCI will be presenting the Artistic Design Division of the Northern California Daffodil Society’s horticultural Mother Lode Show. Held at Kautz Ironstone Vineyards with free admission, the show is open to the public on Saturday March 13 from 11am to 5pm and Sunday March 14 from 11am to 3pm

This year the theme of the flower show is Daffodils Around the World, with six artistic design classes. Entries for the show are open to all members of the Valley Lode District garden clubs. In general, the artistic design rules follow the National Garden Club’s requirements for a standard flower show. That means no artificial plant material may be used, no fresh plant material may be treated in any way, judging is done by three NGCI qualified judges and only one entry per class per exhibitor. And the flower show design rules will also include that daffodils MUST predominate in each design entry. As in years’ past, Ironstone provides daffodils for the arrangements from their vast collection blooming throughout the winery grounds.
