Murphys, California, January 24, 2007 — Flowers are in bloom at the new Murphys Harmon Gardens Flower Shop. Creative floral arrangements utilizing unique containers are a specialty of Angela's.
As co-chairperson of the Garden Club's Daffodil Flower Show at Ironstone Winery, her creative arrangements earned several blue ribbons. She credits her training in the creative floral arts to local floral designer Beulah Haas of Arnold and Judy Worley of Mountain Ranch. Working at the Country Flower Hutch in Murphys Angela honed her wedding floral skills. Angela began creating beautiful wedding flowers in 2005.
Flowers and gardening have always been a passion for Angela. She enjoys sharing practical and educational advice on the care of individual plants and flowers. "Flowers and gardens enrich our lives and Angela wants to share them with everyone", says Mary Jo Macfarlane, owner of Querencia bed and breakfast in Murphys.
With a move from the Bay Area, Angela's husband Don began building a dream garden for her. Their project began on weekends in 1999 refurbishing an old ranch property on Main Street in Douglas Flat. They continue to improve their gardens, which include an old potting shed, greenhouse, koi ponds with waterfalls. The old ranch home originally built as a one room cabin in the 1850s was reconstructed. It is now used as a floral workshop where Angela creates dried floral wreaths using everlasting flowers and herbs from her garden.
An active community volunteer, Angela has been president of the Calaveras County Women's Network, president of the Douglas Flat Community Center and several chairwoman projects for the Calaveras County Garden Club. She currently is working on a landscape project for the 1854 Pioneer School House in Douglas Flat. Angela has been a customer service manager, a law librarian, a corporate trainer and human resources manager. Threaded throughout her corporate America work years she has excelled in providing quality service with every endeavor.
